Mary Kay Weekend!!!!

100_4426

We had a treat this weekend when several of the Top Mary Kay National Sales Directors were in OKC.  Since Mary Kay has passed away, these women are literally the top people in the company who are “our Mary Kay”.  They are GREAT!  The best part was that my personal NSD Tammy Crayk came and we had a fun night at our house before the training started on Friday.  Here’s a picture of some of the consultants who were there….Darcy, Shelly, Mary, Jacqui, Tammy Crayk, Maria, Kelley, Crystle. These women are amazing!!! It was such a wonderful, inspiring weekend.  I feel SO blessed to have the friends and mentors that I do---love, love, love my Mary Kay world!!!

Valentine's Day Fun!!!

Valentine’s Day at The Edgington Home

We love Valentine’s Day!!! The kids woke up to pink, heart-shaped pancakes and were excited to take their valentine’s to school for their parties that day.  (Sadie was feeling a little gyped since there are no parties at Middle School---growing up is hard sometime!)  Then that night we had our Valentine’s dinner. Chuck and I started a tradition when we just had Sadie and Liam----we felt bad leaving them on a school night to go out on Valentine’s AND we HATED waiting for 1-2 hours to eat out!!! So, we have our own candlelight dinner at home!  Music, candles, flowers, gifts, dinner…the whole shebang!!! The kids LOVE it and look forward to it every year. I LOVE doing it as a family too.  Although it was much louder this year than I remember….our kids are SO loud!  It was still fun though!

Sons of Liberty

Liam is doing the 5th grade program at school this week….it’s a Living History Museum and the person he is portraying is Samuel Adams.  Here he is all decked out as Sam and of course, Briggs HAD do do what Liam was doing! Liam actually made him the hat (there may be hope for them to someday shift from mortal enemies to friends!) and the as we pieced Liam’s costume together, Briggs found similar pieces to make his.  It was so cute!

We had another round of Snowmaggedon or Snowpocalypse this week.  The storm hit early Wednesday morning and the kids were out of school for the rest of the week.  Oh yeah…..it was 61 degrees today!  We went from the teens, with a windchill of below zero to spring weather in 3 days!!!  Gotta love that Oklahoma weather!!!

Earlier this week Lydia was having problems with what we thought was Pink Eye….but thanks to Dr. Mom AKA Grandma Kathie, we took her in to the doctor and found out that it was Periorbital Cellulitis.  It’s an infection of the tissue and her eye was so red and swollen. She was also in a lot of pain and I felt so bad!  The doctor said that we came in at the right time (thanks Mom!) because she was about 2 steps, in the infection process, of needing to be hospitalized. Scary! Luckily, it only took about 5 hours after we started the antibiotic  for her to be feeling better and the swelling to start going away.  On a more spiritual note, Chuck gave her a special blessing on Monday night, when it was at it’s peak, so that she’d be able to sleep and not be in so much pain (Sunday night and Monday day were horrible!) and she slept well and the swelling & redness actually went down a little by the time we got to the Dr. the next morning.   I’m so grateful for doctors and friends who help out and especially for Mom….Lydia is doing great now. She’s back to her normal, feisty, energetic self!!!

p.s. As an interesting side note, I also had cellulitis when I was younger….I was about 2 and it was on my leg but still…..is she my daughter or what?!

Shut the door!

It was SO cold….with the wind chill it felt like –10 but that didn’t stop the kids from wanting to go outside.  “Shut the door!” was commonly heard at our house.  But isn’t Lydia just SO cute….had to take a photo even though she was freezing!

Lovin’ the snow!!!

Daddy time

Liam and Chuck had some yummy hot chocolate (Thanks Aunt Celeste for your amazing recipe!)  on the patio after working on the “igloo”.  Looks like they could go ice skating on the pool next! :)  Seriously, what a cool Dad!

Liam and Chantz….snowman!

The snowmen making was fun but it involved a war between the boys and girls….Chantz kept stealing the girls carrot and eating it! Then the hat, then the arms etc…….um, stealing them, not eating them! :) Ah the joys of siblings and their friends!!! A tleast I got a photo before the war began!

Too, too cute!

Snow Cave!

The boys have just about the coolest Dad ever….Chuck spent hours with them building their “igloo” as Briggs called it. So sad to see if warm up and melt. More snow soon, please!!!  This is Briggs (inside) with his friend Luke.

Snowmaggedon???

Last week we had our yearly snow storm here in Oklahoma and as usual, it shut the whole state down! We only had about 6-8 inches but other parts of the state had upwards of 12 inches. I know, I know….for my fellow Utahns it seems a little crazy, but I have to admit that we just aren’t prepared for it here. It’s been 5 days and our street still isn’t cleared. Poor snow plow guys…I think there might be 4 of them in the whole city! I feel for them…big job, not enough man power or equipment.

We were the insane “Oklahomans” who were cheering on the storm and hoping it would literally DUMP! We miss the snow so much and LOVE how beautiful it is. The kids have loved having 4 snow days off of school (but they won’t love it when they have to make a few of them up!) and I’ve loved sleeping in…I admit it. I’ve been a bit lazy this week! But what can you do when EVERYTHING in Oklahoma has come to a stand still? Watch movies with your kids? Make cookies? Sleep in? Read a good book? Get your office organized? DONE! I’ve spent the last few years of Snow Days being frustrated with my kids at the fact that I couldn’t get my work done and this year I decided I was going to be more flexible and enjoy the moment. Liam asked me the other day what “Carpe Diem” meant and when I told him “Sieze the Day” he thought that was cool. And I thought…… “Way to go, Maria! You had a Carpe Diem week with your kids!!!” (hopefully they feel the same way!)

I’m ready to get back to our regular schedule now but am so glad we had a fun week together. When is it going to snow again? Soon I hope! Here are some pictures of the kids and their SNOWMAGGEDON Adventures.
